18th century and modern onlookers sing "We never will knock under" while an effigy of King George III burns brightly.

Independence Day – 18th Century Style

Late on Saturday afternoon, gather with hundreds of others at Hickory Ridge Living History Museum for a celebration which dates back to the 18th century – the burning in effigy of King George III, accompanied by the reading of the Declaration of Independence and musket-fire salutes to each of the original 13 colonies. There’s room for audience participation in reading the tributes to each of the colonies, as well! Admission is by donation to Hickory Ridge Museum.

Afterwards, join friends and family in the beautiful Daniel Boone Amphitheatre to watch the moving story centered around our nation’s fight for independence, Horn in the West.
