Get Ready for the 2026 Season of Horn in the West!

The 74th season of Horn in the West is right around the corner!

This year is extra special as we celebrate America 250, the 250th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence. Horn in the West is the only outdoor drama in the nation focused on the American Revolution, and this summer we get to tell that story during one of the most meaningful years in our nation's history.

While we gear up for opening night on June 26th, our team at the Southern Appalachian Historical Association continues to host programs and events at Hickory Ridge History Museum year round.

Weather and Cancellations

Horn in the West is an outdoor production and occasionally subject to mountain weather. We are committed to putting on the best show possible and will make every effort to perform as scheduled. If weather conditions are a concern before the show, we will hold and attempt to begin the performance up to 8:30 PM. Due to Town of Boone noise ordinances, we cannot begin after 8:30 PM. We will not make a cancellation decision before 7:30 PM except in extreme circumstances. If weather becomes an issue during the performance, we may hold briefly and resume when conditions improve. A performance is considered complete once it has reached intermission.

Rain Checks

Rain checks are available if a performance is canceled at any point before or after intermission. Present your ticket to the Box Office or Concession Stand immediately following a cancellation announcement to receive your rain check. Rain checks never expire as long as Horn in the West is in production. Rain checks are valid only on canceled performances. If you choose to leave before a cancellation is announced, no rain check will be issued.

Refunds

Refunds are available only if a performance is canceled before intermission and apply to the base ticket price only. Upgrades to Premiere Reserved or VIP packages are not included in refunds. Refunds are not issued the night of the performance. To request a refund, mail your ticket with a written refund request to: Horn in the West, PO Box 295, Boone, NC 28607.

Cancellation Insurance

Optional cancellation insurance is available at the time of ticket purchase for $3 per ticket. We recommend checking the weather before you arrive and dressing for mountain conditions. Umbrellas are not provided.

Admission

Tickets are required for all guests ages 4 and older. Tickets are a revocable license and remain the property of SAHA.

Guest Conduct

We want everyone to have a wonderful evening. To ensure that, we ask that all guests treat fellow audience members, cast, and staff with respect. SAHA reserves the right to refuse entry or remove any guest whose behavior is disruptive, abusive, or vulgar, and removed guests will not receive a refund. Revocation of future ticket privileges or arrest is possible in serious cases. Firearms, weapons, and explosives of any kind are strictly prohibited. Outside food and beverages, coolers, ice chests, and artificial noisemakers are not permitted. Alcohol consumption, smoking, and abusive behavior will result in removal without refund. Large bags may be subject to size restrictions and all bags and items are subject to reasonable search upon entry. By purchasing a ticket, guests voluntarily assume all risk associated with attendance, including personal injury and loss or damage to property. Guests agree that SAHA and all of its agents, officers, directors, volunteers, and employees are released from any claims arising from such causes.

Photography and Video

We love when guests share their experience! Photography without flash is welcome throughout the performance and short video clips are permitted. Extended or prolonged videotaping is not permitted out of respect for our performers and fellow guests. SAHA reserves the right to hold recording devices until the end of the performance if this policy is not followed.
