Step back in time for a hands-on morning of colonial fun! Bring the whole family for a day of music, storytelling, crafts, and games. Children can learn to play the historic βGame of Graces,β dip their own candles, and create traditional cornshuck dolls.
The event also features live storytelling by Orville Hicks, the best known traditional teller of mountain tales in the region! His stories bring mountain folklore to life. Musician Mary Greene, recipient of a South Arts Master Traditional Musician award, will present childrenβs songs and play singing games with the children. A mountain dulcimer βpetting zooβ will be set up, offering young and old an opportunity to play this beloved Appalachian instrument.
