We're going back to our roots.

This season, Hickory Ridge History Museum proudly reintroduces Living History Museum Days, a return to the immersive, hands-on spirit that once defined us as Hickory Ridge Living History Museum and β€œvillage”. On select days this summer, every cabin will come alive with the sights, sounds, and smells of 18th-century life in the North Carolina mountains.

From open-hearth cooking and blacksmithing to weaving, spinning, woodworking, and frontier chores, guests will experience a day in the life of the early settlers who called this region home. Our interpreters and volunteers will demonstrate traditional skills throughout the village, inviting you to explore, ask questions, and connect with the everyday stories of Appalachian history.

Whether you’re a longtime visitor or discovering us for the first time, Living History Museum Days are your chance to step deeper into the past and to be part of its future.

Interested in volunteering or learning an 18th-century skill? We’re always looking for new hands to help bring the holler to life. Reach out to learn more about becoming part of SAHA family!
